1. Who We Are
This Privacy Policy explains how Plattipus ("Plattipus", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores and shares personal information through our website at plattipus.com and in the course of our work. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Plattipus is a production and research house. If you have any question about this policy or about your personal information, contact us at humans@plattipus.com.
2. What We Collect
2.1 Enquiries. When you use the contact form on our website, we collect the name, email address, type of enquiry and message you provide. When you email us directly, we collect your email address and the contents of your message.
2.2 Correspondence and projects. When we work together, we collect the contact details, correspondence and project materials needed to carry out the engagement, as described in our Terms and Conditions.
2.3 Technical information. Our hosting provider records standard technical information when you visit the website, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of the request. This is used to keep the website secure and performing properly.
We do not collect personal information we do not need, and we do not ask for sensitive information through the website.
3. How We Use It
We use personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry and correspond with you;
- plan, deliver and account for projects we work on together;
- keep the website secure and performing properly; and
- comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information, or any material you send us, to train, fine-tune or otherwise develop any AI or machine learning model.
4. Who We Share It With
4.1 Service providers. Messages sent through the contact form are delivered to us by an email delivery service, and our website is served by a hosting provider. These providers process the information only to provide their service to us.
4.2 Embedded video. Some pages embed video players from Vimeo and YouTube. When you play a video, the provider may set its own cookies and collect information about your viewing under its own privacy policy. We use the privacy-enhanced version of the YouTube player where it is available.
4.3 Legal requirements. We may disclose personal information where the law requires it or where it is necessary to protect our rights.
We do not otherwise share personal information with third parties.
5. Cookies and Browser Storage
Our website sets no advertising or analytics cookies. The website stores a single flag in your browser's session storage so that the opening animation on the home page plays once per visit. That flag contains no personal information and is cleared when you close the tab. Embedded video players may set their own cookies, as described in section 4.
6. Overseas Disclosure
Our email delivery and hosting providers may store or process information on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to ensure that providers we use handle personal information in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
7. Retention
We keep enquiries for as long as needed to respond to them and to keep a record of our correspondence. We keep project information for as long as needed to deliver the engagement and to meet our legal, accounting and record-keeping obligations. After that, we delete or de-identify it.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including access controls on our systems and reputable providers for email and hosting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Access, Correction and Complaints
You may ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing humans@plattipus.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first and we will investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last reviewed. Continued use of the website after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
